For your consideration, you are viewing an Antique WWI piece of military history. This badge is a scarce WWI Imperial German Prussian Air Gunner Badge - (Abzeichen Flugzeug-Fliegerschützen). Instituted 27 January 1918 for air gunners, in die-stamped silvered tombac, circa 1925 period issue.

The badge is surrounded by an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a bow tie ribbon, topped by the German State Crown, featured in the centre is a finely-detailed eagle in mid-flight, clutching a circular bullseye target in its talons, the reverse is hollow with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, it has no makers marks.

Much emotion is vested in such badges by members of the Military Hierarchy. The Kaiserliche Marine or the Imperial German Navy produced two types of pilot badges. One for Sea Plane pilots, based at naval bases and launched from the water as well as the  Navy Land Plane Pilots, these badges were issued to pilots of single-seater aeroplanes.

CONDITION

This badge is Antique, circa WWI, used, and in good condition for its age and use, the detail on the face of the badge is hardly worn at all, and it has no damage, with a nice natural light patina, It has a vertical pin firmly attached to the back # there is no damage to the pin which is straight and the hook is firmly attached and undamaged.
