For your consideration, you are viewing an Antique piece of Military History, this is Brazil M1908 Quillon Bayonet with FI Leather Scabbard for use with the 7 mm. M1908 Mauser rifle produced by DWM in Germany for Brazil. The M1908 Mauser rifle was closely patterned on the Gewehr 98 rifle used by Germany. These bayonets were manufactured from 1908–1914 by several German blade makers and exported to the Brazil Military, they were in use up until around 1934. This has a bird head pommel, internal spring lock button, TO mortise slot, wood grips and a steel cross-guard with a hooked blade breaker quillon, the blade is straight, fullered on both sides and has a single edge with a spear point. This comes with the correct FI (Fabrica de Itajuba) scabbard that has a leather body with a blued steel locket and chape mounts. # The makers and inspection marks are:

• CROSS GUARD: "21856".
• SCABBARD: "FI" is an abbreviation for Fabrica de Itajuba, the Brazilian state arms factory.

CONDITION: This Brazilian bayonet is antique used, and in good condition for its age and use in warfare. The wood grip is in good condition with indent marks consistent with use and fits tightly to the tang, the release/lock button is in working order. The 29.7 cm blade has a bright polished finish with no stain and no pitting. The edge is not sharp and has no dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a worn blued finish with some wear and grey patination. The scabbard leather is supple and all the stitching is intact and it has no damage. The metal mounts have a worn-blued patina that shows rub wear and scratches to the finish, it fits tightly together with the bayonet.  # Please note that the photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos are available for you to view in the eBay gallery, to show up the finer details and conditions.
