For your consideration, you are viewing an Antique piece of Brazil's Military History. This bayonet is a Brazilian M1908 Mauser Quillon Knife Bayonet complete with a rolled metal scabbard and a leather frog, this bayonet is for use with the 7 mm. M1908 Mauser rifle produced for Brazil by DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Aktien-Gesellschaft) in Germany. The M1908 rifle was closely designed on the Gewehr 98 also used and exported by Germany. These bayonets were manufactured from 1908–1914 by several German blade makers for the Brazil Military and they were in use up until around 1934. This German-manufactured 1908 is excellent quality and can easily still serve as a functional knife. The 1908 has a polished bright steel finish pommel with a T-O slot and a push button release. It has a swept forward quillon cross-guard and a 15 mm. muzzle ring also has a bright finish. It has a bright 11¾" single-edged, fullered spear point blade with 2-piece wood slab grips secured to the tang by 2 rivets and has a clearing hole in the grips adjacent to the cross-guard. It has a rolled steel scabbard with a teardrop frog button and a handstitched similar-era European Leather belt Frog. # This bayonet DOES NOT have any makers or inspection marks: CONDITION: This bayonet is from circa, and it is in good condition for its age and use in warfare. The wood grips have been replaced and they are in very good condition with no missing pieces, indents or marks and have been fitted tightly to the tang, and the release/lock button is in working order. The 29.5 cm blade has a Bright Polished finish with scattered spot stains and no pitting. The point and the edge are sharp and it has no dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a bright polished finish with some stain spots, scuff wear, and indents. The scabbard has a blackened refurbished rolled metal scabbard which is in very good condition, it has no dents and fits tightly together with the bayonet. There is no damage to the frog, the leather is thick and supple, and all the stitching is intact. # Please note that the photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos are available for you to view in the eBay gallery, to show the finer details and conditions.- Photos do not show the actual size so please make sure you read the description page to get the exact measurements.
