You are viewing a Vintage late 1940s piece of military history. This British badge is a post-WWII The Herefordshire Light Infantry (TA). In 1947 this regiment was renamed the 1st Battalion and was reissued this cap badge. It still served as part of the 159th Infantry Brigade of the 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division TA.

The cap badge of a regiment is its most basic identifying emblem and much emotion is vested in such badges by members of regiments. The badge is taken from the crest of the coat-of-arms of the City of Hereford which features a Lion passant guardant, holding in the dexter paw a sword standing over the motto ‘MANU FORTI’ means ‘with a strong hand’ The addition of the Light Infantry bugle-horn originally came from the Prussian Field Jaeger Corps who acted as fast-moving light infantry advance scouts who used a bugle to pass orders.

CONDITION

This badge is Vintage from the late 1940s to the early 1950s it is used and in good condition for its age and use. There is no damage to the face of the white metal badge, it has a naturally aged patina, and the brass slider is straight and it is firmly attached and works as intended.  # Please note: The Photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos can show the finer details and condition.
