For your consideration, you are viewing a piece of military history. This is a Vintage Genuine WWI Romanian Brown leather belt frog for use with an 1889 Mauser Bayonet (Frog only) used by the cavalry. This has been constructed from several layers of a thick Brown Bovine Cow Hide and it is of sewn construction, secured by 4 metal studs and stitching, with a metal loop inserted at the top and a hole for the frog button and without a hilt strap.
This will fit various slimmer European bayonets, Romanian VZ24, Czech VZ22, VZ23, Hungarian M1895 and 1935. German K1898, K1884/98, K98, S24, S109, bayonet and many more (please check the measurements below).
#This has no maker marks but it has been hand-carved with "D7 or DT".
CONDITION: This is a WWII Used Leather Frog Belt Hanger, (FROG ONLY NO-BAYONET) it is in very good condition for its age and use in warfare. The dark black-brown leather is showing some age, it has been hand carved with D7 but otherwise, it has no rips, tears or structural damage to the leather, the leather has been treated with wax to preserve it and it is supple and has a naturally aged patina, with a normal scuff, and scratch marks from use, all the stitching is tight and intact.
