For your consideration, you are viewing a piece of WWII Swiss Military History, this is a Model 1943, M43 Swiss Army Officer/NCO Dress knife. These were introduced on 1st January 1944, by 1943 Federal Council decree, the M43 was for officers and higher NCOs to replace the long and cumbersome sabres and épées. This comes complete with its original scabbard and Troddel/Portapee (Bayonet Knot). Manufactured by Elsener Schwyz Victoria which is now the famous Victorinox that manufactures Swiss Army Knives, the M1918 bayonet was manufactured from 1918 into WW2 and finished production in 1933. Victorinox initially produced the M1918 bayonet until the early 1920s. Victorinox was located in Schwyz Canton and many of these weapons were used in both WWI and WWII. As it is with all other Swiss bayonets, this is exceptional quality, extremely well made and finished and has a beautiful mirror-polished stainless steel blade with a spear point tip, with unsharpened edges, the grips scales are polished Oak with 3 chrome studs and mirror-polished stainless steel guard and domed pommel, which has a unique three-hole screw top. It has a tan cotton Trodell Knot that has a red and white striped flat cord that is tied to the crossguard and the base of the oak grips. The steel scabbard has a black enamelled finish with a belt clip and leather hanger. # The makers and inspection marks are:

CONDITION: This army dress knife is from circa 1944, and is in excellent condition for its age and use in warfare. The grips are in very good condition with no missing pieces, indents or marks and fit tightly to the tang, the release/lock button is in working order. The 20.8 cm blade has a mirror-polished finish with no stains and a fleabite spot of pitting on the edge on one side. The edge is not sharp and has no dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a bright mirror-polished finish with some faint scuff. The scabbard is in very good condition, with so light wear to the finish on the finial and some faint scuff marks and fits tightly together with the bayonet and the leather strap is supple, the stitching is tight and unbroken, The troddel has no damage and has only minor soiling. # Please note that the photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos are available for viewing in the eBay gallery, to show the finer details and conditions.
