For your consideration, I have an Antique Chilean M1912 Bayonet & Scabbard. The M1912 is for use with the 7 mm. M1912 Mauser rifle. These were manufactured at "Steyr" by the Oesterreichische Waffenfabrik-Gesellschaft (Austrian State Weapons Manufacturing Company) and produced on contract for Chile. This bayonet also mounts to the Chilean M1935 carbine. The ricasso has "OE" over "WG". #Interesting to note... export stopped and numerous M1912 rifles and bayonets were confiscated at the beginning of WW1 for an issue to Austro-Hungarian troops. This has the Chilean crest and was most likely exported to Chile between 1912 and the beginning of WWI in 1914. This knife bayonet was designed for use on Mauser Rifles and was also issued to pair with the Chilean M1912/61 and M1935 Mausers. The barrel ring is just on the hilt. The M1912 rifle was based on the German Gewehr 98. #The makers and inspection marks are:- RICASSO: "OE" over "WG": reverse "Chilean Crest"
- CROSSGUARD: "D 6955"
- SCABBARD: Frog button: "B 3225"
CONDITION: This bayonet is Antique 1910s, used, and in good condition for its age and uses in warfare. The wood grips fit tightly but show expected wear around the studs, with a few indents, and marks, and the release button is in working order. The blade has a bright finish with a light grey patina and no pitting. The edge is not sharp and has no dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards and pommel finish is bright with a little scuff and indent marks with an aged grey patina. Fitted in the correct original matching number scabbard with oval frog stud, which has a refurbished blackened metal finish, the finish is worn on the frog button it has no dents and fits tightly together with the bayonet. # Please note: The Photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos can show the finer details and condition.
