For your consideration, you are viewing an Antique piece of Brazil's Military History. This bayonet is a Brazilian M1908 Mauser Quillon Bayonet, with a brand new handcrafted Australian Leather Belt Sheath. this bayonet is for use with the 7 mm. M1908 Mauser rifle produced for Brazil by DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Aktien-Gesellschaft) in Germany. The M1908 rifle was closely designed on the Gewehr 98 also used and exported by Germany. These bayonets were manufactured from 1908–1914 by several German blade makers for the Brazil Military and they were in use up until around 1934.  This German-manufactured 1908 is of excellent quality The 1908 has a polished bright steel finish pommel with a T-O slot and a push button release. It has a swept forward quillon cross-guard and a 15 mm. muzzle ring also has a bright finish. It has a bright 11¾" single-edged, fullered spear point blade with 2-piece wood slab grips secured to the tang by 2 rivets and has a clearing hole in the grips adjacent to the cross-guard. This does not have its original scabbard but it has been paired with a brand new hand-stitched thick cowhide black leather sheath belt hanger, (Made in Australia by a highly skilled Australian Saddlemaker) this sheath measures 43 cm / 17" and on its own, it is valued at over $70. The leather is super strong and supple with all the stitching tight and intact, the snap button is tight, and overall is of excellent quality # Marks :

CONDITION: This antique bayonet is from circa 1900s, and it is in good condition for its age and use in warfare. The wood grips are in worn condition with splinters and small chips missing that have worn smooth, with light marks and have been fitted tightly to the tang, the release/lock button is in working order. The 29.7 cm blade has a polished finish that has an aged grey patina with scattered spot stains and some pitting. The point and the edge are not sharp and have no dings. The spine of the blades has some dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a polished finish and an aged patina with some scuff wear and indents. The black leather sheath is new, hand-stitched, and made in Australia, the leather is strong and supple. It has a strong working snap button with all the stitching tight and intact and fits tightly together with the bayonet # Please note that the photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos are available for you to view in the eBay gallery, to show the finer details and conditions.
