For your consideration, you are viewing a fixed-blade Knife, this is a U.S. PAL RH 36 knife, manufactured by the PAL Cutlery Company, complete with a leather sheath, it has a Texas star button and leather straps attached to the tip at the bottom of the sheath. #PAL BLADE COMPANY: The name PAL was originally used as a trademark by the Utica Knife & Razor Company of Utica, NY from 1924 to 1939. PAL-marked knives of that era used imported German Blades, and the blades generally took the word “Germany” as well, another company also used the name PAL which was established in Chicago in 1934. The Pal Blade Company of Chicago was created by Otto Kraus. In 1935 the two “PAL” companies merged into one, known simply as the PAL Blade Company, and opened a manufacturing facility in Plattsburg, NY. in the 1940s. PAL purchased the cutlery division of the Remington Arms Company, including their existing stock of completed knives and knife parts. PAL was originally a manufacturer of pocket knives, after the Remington acquisition they expanded their range to include a variety of fixed-blade knives. PAL received US government knife contracts during World War II producing combat knives during the war years. Pal Blade Company liquidated in 1953. The USN Mark 1 combat knife was produced by a variety of manufacturers during World War II and was issued to Navy personnel by the thousands. It had a 5 ¼” long blade and was patterned after typical hunting and side knives of the era. The subsequent Mark 2 knife had a longer 7” blade. CONDITION: This PAL RH 36 knife is Vintage 40s, Pre-Owned and it is in Good Condition for its age and use. It retains all its leather spacers which are undamaged, the aluminium pommel has a chunk missing from one side, and there is no damage to the crossguard, other than scratch and indent marks, the blade scattered stain and pitting marks and an aged patina, and have sharpening marks and overall light scuff, the edge is sharp.
