For your consideration, you are viewing a piece of Military History, this is a Vintage WWII Yugoslavian M1948 Knife Bayonet and Matching Scabbard for use with the 8 mm. Yugoslavian M1948 Mauser rifle, this has been closely patterned from the German 8mm Mauser Karabiner 98k. The M1948 bayonet is a shortened version of the M1924 bayonet, produced when Yugoslavia rebuilt their Vojno Tehnicki Zavod. Translates to 'Military Technical Institute'. Vojno Tehnicki Zavod was sequentially targeted and destroyed during WWII. The Germans overran Yugoslavia in 1941 This has been stamped in Serbian Cyrillic Alphabet (ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ). The Cyrillic markings were used up until 1953. After 1953 the western marking (PREDUZECE) was used, which in English translates to "factory" or "enterprise." ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ 44 (Factory 44) was called the Zavodi Crvena Zastava (Translates to 'Red Flag Works') in Kragujevac, Serbia. The Zavodi Crvena Zastava factory is still manufacturing today and is now known as 'Zastava Arms.# The makers and inspection marks are:

- CROSSGUARD: "2996"
- SCABBARD: "2996"
- FROG: "V" within a circle
CONDITION:
This bayonet is from the 40s and is in very good condition for its age and use in warfare. The grips are in very good condition with no missing pieces and fit tightly to the tang, and the release/lock button is in working order. The 25 cm blade has a deep blued finish, most of the wear to the finish is on the points edges from sheathing and unsheathing and a couple of spots on the ricasso where the metal is showing. The edge and the points are sharp and have no dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a worn deep blued finish with some scuff wear, and indents. The scabbard has a worn blackened finish with some scratch and scuff marks, and it is in very good condition with no dents and fits tightly together with the bayonet.
